ALAN ILAGAN LIVES HERE FOR NOW

A Written Experiment In More or Less Real Time

From the mad mind of blogger Alan Ilagan, in a world where the blog is all but dead…

Perfect Makes Practice

The quest for perfection is a fool’s errand. You don’t see gold chains around my neck or a mohawk on my head – we don’t pity fools around here.

Hello you – if I may call you ‘you’.

It feels like I’m riding around with training wheels again, on a red bike next to my brother’s blue bike sans training wheels. It took at least half the day, with repeated attempts, failures, falls, crashes, and tantrums, before I finally got the hang of it – but once that moment happened, and I felt the balance of movement and gravity, I understood the feeling behind riding a bike – and it’s always been about the feeling instead of the mechanics for me. Once I manage to get under the feeling, once the sense spills into my heart, I hold it forever there. Like writing.

It may not always be perfect, it may not always sing in the magnificent way my favorite authors sing, but there is music to be found when the intent is pure and the effort is made. Further refinement would help, but there’s rarely time for that in any endeavor, and much less in a silly blog. So we will navigate this space together, at least until I get ALANILAGAN.com back under my ownership – to think that there is question of whether the domain is actually mine is almost laughable, and one day that story may find a place here. Until then I’ll just keep trying. – ABI, 5/12/26

Where do you begin?

Let’s start at the very beginning, a very good place to start. When you read you begin with A-B-C…

Can I change?

Abso-fucking-lutely! Your clothes, your shoes, your belt, your cologne, your hair, your mind.

What happens if I need ?

We all need. We all want.

How is it handled?

Gently. Carefully. Roughly.

How can I handle guest invitations?

Decline.

Would it be possible?

Yes. Everything is always possible and possible is always everything.
